The project has come as far as it will go for this year and the boat is being stored at the yacht club for the winter. I’m flying home next week and will return on May 1 next year to complete the project and sail back to the British Isles.
What’s left? The sails have to be cut and sown, battens, yards and booms attached, and the running rigging installed.
I have constructed the yards and booms and they await finishing in a workshop in Mt Stewart. All the materials for the sails have been purchased. A few more blocks and rope for the running rigging should complete the inventory.
I hope to be conducting sea trials by June next summer. Watch this space.
